Bengaluru: After a lull, the state cabinet decided to allow transaction and registration of properties, which have Bkhatas in BBMP limits.
Speaking to reporters after the cabinet meeting, Law Minister T.B. Jayachandra said the move would help BBMP mop up revenue to the tune of over Rs 1,000 crore.
Bkhata properties are those which do not have proper khatas or properties with deviations. These could be agricultural properties which do not have conversion certificates from the Revenue DC, converted layouts, which do not have approval from BBMP, BIAPPA and BMRDA, houses constructed in approved layouts without approval and houses constructed violating plans.
In 2009, the government had made an amendment to the law, allowing registration of these properties. The assessment of these properties was maintained in a B-register, which earned them the name Bkhatas.
More than 90% of construction under BBMP limits fall in the Bkhata category. For the last few months, the government had stopped registration of these properties. These constructions will have to be regularised when thegovernment brings an amendment under the Akrama-Sakrama bill.
The cabinet decided to extend a higher minimum support price for rice so that it did not need to import rice from Chhattisgarh for Anna Bhagya scheme. It was also decided to set up a Ground Water Directorate to monitor exploitation of groundwater, constitute an Agriculture Price Commission, which will fix the minimum price for agricultural produce and rename Bengaluru City Railway Station as Kranthiveera Sangolli Rayanna Railway Station.
