Rajahmundry: YSR Congress president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy will be taking up state-wide tour to champion the cause of Samaikhyandhra shortly.

The YSR Congress leader announced during his visit here on Wednesday that he would be taking up the tour beginning from Kuppam to Srikakulam in Seemandhra region in order to mobilise the support for the state to remain united.

He will also be taking up the Odarpu Yatra as he abruptly ended it as he was imprisoned for nearly 16 months in the Chanchalaguda jail in Hyderabad in a disproportionate assets case.

Jagan had taken up the Odarpu Yatra earlier in order to console the family members of those who were killed after learning about the death of his father and late chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy.

In fact, it was this yatra which invited the wrath of Congress president Sonia Gandhi earlier. However, Jagan announced that he would be taking up Odarpu Yatra and also fulfill the Samaikya Sankharavam by touring several parts in Seemandha region.

Jagan did not announce the schedule of his state-wide tour. However, he hinted that he would be taking it up very soon. On the other hand, Jagan arrived at Rajahmundry airport by a scheduled flight at about 1.55 pm from Hyderabad.

He was supposed to attend the marriage of YSR Congress leader and former minister Pilli Subash Chandra Bose’s son at Kakinada. Jagan was scheduled to visit Rajahmundry while on his way to Kakinada and garland the statue of late minister Jakkampudi Ramamohan Rao and pay tributes to him at Kambhala Tank centre.

Though he was scheduled to arrive to the city a little after 2 pm to pay tributes to late Jakkampudi, it took nearly five hours for him to arrive at the Kambhala Tank centre from the airport covering nearly 16 km distance.

All along the way, he stopped at several places and greeted the people with folded hands. Police faced tough time to control the people as they rushed towards  Jagan. He talked to him and even touched them gently to express his gratitude.

Jagan arrived at Kambhala Tank centre at about 6.30 pm and garlanded the statue while the waiting crowd cheered him lustily. Jagan said, “I apologise  for being unable to speak at length as I am supposed to attend the marriage of our leader Bose son’s marriage at Kakinada. I am grateful to your love and affection. I will meet you all soon. Jai Telugu Talli, Jai Samaikhyandhra, Johar YSR and Johar Jakkampudi.”
