Chennai: With a view to addressing the looming challenges of realtors in the second-rung cities, the southern chapters of Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Association of India (Credai) have come together to jointly host the second edition of Southcon 2013 in Chennai.
The four southern states alone had 1,739 members from over 34 cities. “And hence we decided it will be apt to conduct this exclusive southern edition to focus on the issues of these people since 2010 when the first edition of Southcon was held in Bengaluru,” said T. Chitty Babu, chairman of Southcon 2013.
“I see a tremendous scope for development in the southern market; companies playing in this area are well governed and are transparent in transactions making it a unique market,” he said. This year’s theme of the biennial event is “Together for transformation” and will be a platform for constructive discussion of current challenges faced by the industry and arrive at ways to curb them,” he added.
Among other things that will be discussed in the meet will be the expansion of Credai’s Tamil Nadu chapter into other towns in the state, the newly formed COC and CGRF initiatives and progress across Creai’s south India chapters, regulatory challenges, new building technology and scope of growth in smaller towns, said N. Nandakumar, president of Credai in Tamil Nadu.
Over 500 delegates are expected to attend the two-day event being held on November 15 and 16 in Chennai.
