Thiruvananthapuram: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Mullappally Ramachandran has said that there was  an element of mystery in CPM secretary Pinarayi Vijayan expressing gratitude to a few Congress leaders at his press conference after the CBI court exonerated him in the Lavalin case.

Mullappally expressed this view on a query by mediapersons on speculation about a ‘deal’ between the CPM leader and a section of the  UDF  leaders to dispose of the  case.

Vijayan  had thanked Chief Minister Oommen Chandy,  KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala and K. Muraleedharan MLA on the issue. Mullappaly reiterated that there was  something suspicious about the court verdict.

On Vijayan’s suggestion that those having doubts about the  verdict should read the judgment, Mullappally said that he will read the judgment. But he  quipped that “reading the judgment will not help in removing the lingering suspicion about the verdict”.
