Stung by bees 50 admitted to three hospitals

 

Krishnagiri:  About 50 people stung by bees while carrying a relative’s body to the graveyard on the outskirts of their Sokka­rasa­napalli village near Hosur on Friday were hospitalised with painful blisters, apart from nausea and skin rashes. 

 

Locals said the villagers were carrying the body of Gopalakrishnan, 70, to be bur­ied when a huge swarm of bees from the trees near the graveyard attacked them. It appeared that the firecrackers burst by the ‘mourners’ disturbed the bees from their hives in those trees. The men abandoned the body on the road and fled screaming.

 

The injured men were adm­itted in three hospitals, inclu­ding two in the neighbouring Bengaluru, while Gopalak­ris­h­nan’s last rites got delayed by several hours.
