Geeta Phogat wins gold medal in senior nationals
Olympian Geeta Phogat returned to winning ways grabbing the gold medal in the 58th Senior National Championship.
Kolkata: After her forgettable outing in the World Championship in September, Olympian Geeta Phogat returned to winning ways grabbing the gold medal in the 58th Senior National Championship at Kshudiram Anushilan Kendra here today.
Powered by Geeta's effort, Haryana ended the penultimate day of the meet with two gold medals. In the 59kg final, Geeta knocked down Divyanshi of Jharkhand for the gold medal.
Vinesh earned Haryana the second gold medal in the women's 51kg section. Meanwhile, Railways and Services dominated the ring clinching two gold medals each.
Earlier, Phogat sisters Babita and Ritu claimed silver and bronze medals in the women’s freestyle 55kg and 48kg respectively yesterday.
