Mulayam demands ban on English in Parliament, calls for promotion of Hindi
Countries which use their mother tongue are more developed, says Samajwadi Party chief.
Lucknow: Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav has reverted to his earlier anti-English stand and has said that MPs should be banned from speaking in English in the Parliament.
Yadav, who was addressing a programme organised by the Hindi Sewa Trust in Etawah on Saturday night, to honour those involved in promotion of Hindi, said “Countries which use their mother tongue are more developed."
"It is the need of the hour to promote Hindi here and a beginning should be made by banning the English in Parliament.A large number of MPs end up speaking in English in Parlia-ment even though they seek votes in Hindi," he added.

Yadav clarified that he was not against English as a language but wanted Indians to take pride in their national and regional languages.
