Rs 5 lakh worth smuggled rosewood seized

 

Vellore:?A vehicle check squad, he­aded by Ranipet DSP Lav­a­nya, on Friday late night se­ized 151 pieces of costly rosewood from a tipper lo­rry proceeding to Wala­ja­pet from the border areas of Andhra Pradesh.

 

According to Ranipet po­lice inspector Partha­sa­ra­thy, the rosewood pieces, cut into 5ftX6ft, estimated to be worth around Rs 5 la­kh, were hidden under so­me iron construction ma­terial. The driver gave evasive replies to the poli­ce team. Upon suspicion, wh­en the team checked the vehicle, they detected the rosewood that were br­ou­ght without valid permit.
