Give your skin a radiant glow by preparing fruit peel masks at home.
Fruit peels are considered a rich source of fibre and vitamins that are extremely helpful in fighting skin problems. They give fabulous results without investing in expensive skin care products. Known for its instant glow properties, peel off masks can be made with ingredients that are readily available in the kitchen. It is natural without any risk of reactions or side effects.
From normal to dry to patchy and combination skin — different fruits are used to combat different skin problems.
For glowing skin: Dip orange peels in raw milk for 1 hour before scrubbing. This would balance the drying effect of peel with the moisturising effect of milk. Mix two tablespoon of orange juice with some milk and dab it on the face with cotton. Apply the paste and peel to reveal a purified and refreshed complexion removing dead skin and impurities.
Anti-ageing: Banana peel is extremely nourishing and helps fight against signs of ageing. Banana repairs and tightens dull skin. Similarly, apple peel helps in hydrating and stimulates the blood circulation. Apple peel is rich in anti-oxidants that help tighten skin. Take apple peel and add to it 1 tablespoon of honey, 1 egg yolk, a dash of vinegar and 2 tablespoons of oil. Apply the mixture on face and neck and leave to dry. Wash with lukewarm water to get a healthy and nourished skin.
- To make a banana mask, Mash up a ripe banana.
- Add honey to make a paste out of it. Apply the paste over your face and wash after 15 minutes to get smooth and porcelain skin.

Exfoliation: Papaya peel is a good exfoliant which is suitable for normal and oily skin. It can be mixed with curd to prepare a mask. Apart from removing dead skin cells, Papaya also helps to lighten skin tone. The mask can be applied on face as well as body. Take a cup of papaya pulp and mix it with honey for skin whitening mask that also takes care of open pores and reduces wrinkles and lines.
Rejuvenation: Strawberry peel has anti-ageing properties that help skin look youthful and energised. Suitable for dry and normal skin, one can use the peel off mask regularly for a younger looking and glowing skin. Mash three large strawberries and apply the pulp as a mask and leave it on for 10 minutes. Wash it with rose water for a glistening skin that feels alive.
Oily skin: Grapefruit peel controls oil secretion and fights blemishes. It helps against bacteria that causes pimples. Beat one egg white till it’s fluffy. Add 1 teaspoon of sour cream and 1 teaspoon of grapefruit juice and blend well. Apply the paste for 15 minutes then rinse with warm water. Mash the pulp of the grape and apply it thoroughly on the face and leave it for 15-20 minutes. Rinse with warm water, then cold water to close the pores

Dry, patchy skin:Water-melon peel is a moisturising agent for dry and patchy skin. Take a quarter cup of watermelon, mash the fruit till smooth. Clean the face and spread the mixture. Rinse with cool water and pat dry.
