Hyderabad: A 14-year-old girl student of Vikasa Bharati School in Saidabad was allegedly sexually harassed by her 56-year-old school correspondent.

The girl revealed that the correspondent has been making sexual advances towards her for the past two months and as a result, she had stopped attending her classes for the past one week. Upon enquiry by her parents, she disclosed that she was being harassed. Her parents and others then went to the school, pelted stones and broke a few windows.

A Srinivasulu, the inspector at the Saidabad police station, said, “We have taken the girl’s statement in which she said that Yogender Rao, her school’s correspondent, used to touch her inappropriately. She said that this has been happening for the past two months.”

A case has been registered against the correspondent under the Criminal Law (Amendment) Act 2013, under Section 354. The correspondent tried to get a bail, but failed to do so.
Meanwhile, Rao claimed that he had only patted the girl on her back.
