First Telangana Chief Minister should be a Dalit, demands Sarve Satyanarayana
The Union Min also said that Indira Gandhi was never against T as professed by 'some leaders'.
Hyderabad: Union Minister Sarve Satyanarayana on Tuesday demanded that the first Chief Minister of Telangana State should be a Dalit.
Speaking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan here, Sarve Satyanarayana said that the Congress High Command should consider elevating a Dalit to the Chief Minister's post after the formation of Telangana state.
While the Telangana formation itself would be historical, the State having a Dalit as its first Chief Minister would set a good precedent for the country. When asked whether he was in the race for Chief Minister's post, he said he could not deny the post if Congress President Sonia Gandhi offers it.
Satyanarayana also said that the state would have two PCCs and two Chief Ministers in 2014. He predicted that the Congress party would form the government in both the States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Union Ministers also said that former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was never against the formation of Telangana as being claimed by a few people. He was indirectly referring to the Chief Minister who repeatedly claimed that Indira Gandhi was against the division of Andhra Pradesh.
