Bengaluru: Lingayat leaders in BJP on Monday decided to make a formal request to the central leadership to reinduct former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa in the BJP.

Leaders including former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, former ministers Umesh Katti, Murugesh Nirani, Basavaraj Bommai and V  Somanna held an hour- long meeting here on Monday on the Yeddyurappa issue.

They reportedly  expressed displeasure against the state leadership over the manner in which the rally of the BJP’s  PM candidate Narendra Modi’s  rally was organised at Bengaluru. They felt the leadership ignored Lingayat leaders while organising the rally.

Shettar reportedly  expressed his displeasure against a few BJP leaders for ignoring him in the banners and cut-outs  welcoming people for the  rally.  “We have been ignored by state BJP leaders, who did not assign any responsibility to us though we were ready to provide assistance”, a  Lingayat leader remarked at the meeting.

The leaders discussed the reinduction of  Yeddyurappa.  If the  central leadership fails to take a stand, they have decided to take a delegation to Delhi led by former CM Jagadish Shettar said a former minister. These leaders feel the  Modi wave alone cannot win them Lok Sabha seats and assert that if Yeddyurappa returns, it will boost the morale of  workers.
