Student petitioners and registrar of Pondy University asked to be present on Nov. 28.
Chennai: The Madras high court passed an order on Tuesday, seeking the presence of the student petitioners and registrar of Pondicherry University on November 28, to ascertain the feasibility of settling the issue of suspension of six students following a quarrel between two groups on November 1.
On Tuesday, Vidya T. Appukuttan and five other students of Pondicherry University made a mention before the court of Justice K.K. Sasidharan at 10.30 am and filed a writ petition challenging the November 1 order of the university placing them under suspension.
The judge directed the petitioners to prefer any one of two options: They should either exert pressure on the university to revoke the suspension by resorting to a fast or opt for legal remedies available.
Counsel for the petitioners informed the court that fast by the students was withdrawn at 2.15 pm on Tuesday.
