Vijayawada: The officials of the Sri Kanaka Durga Malleswara Swami temple have removed all hurdles for construction of cottages to provide shelter to devotees.

The officials have succeeded to vacate encroachers from the temple’s land at One Town here on Tuesday. Following the court directions, the officials made all necessary steps to vacate the land and took the land into their possession after five years’ legal battle.

Now, the officials are seeking the endowment authorities final approval to construct dormitories. The CVR Trust had donated three-and-half acres land to Durga temple for the purpose of providing education and medical aid to students of the poorer sections. But the officials leased it to 18 tenants. Later, the tenants were reluctant to vacate the land.

However, the present executive officer K. Prabhakar Srinivas has finally succeeded to take the land from encroachers. Now, the officials will submit proposals to the state government within one week for dormitories construction. The temple has sufficient funds for constructing the dormitory complex.
