Kollam: On the second day of the Resmi murder case trial on Tuesday, the special district and sessions judge recorded the statements of Rakhi, the second witness in the case, and  Subhash,  Resmi’s sister’s husband.

Rakhi,  neighbour of Resmi and the first person to notice Resmi’s body, said she saw it in a sitting posture in the toilet. Biju Radhakrishnan later raised it and laid it in his mother Rajammal’s bedroom, deliberately avoiding their own room.

Rakhi also said Resmi, who was denied food from Biju’s house, often ate  from Rakhi’s house.  Resmi had told  her that Biju and  Rajammal tortured her.

The court also recorded the statements of Subhash, who said Biju had tried to prevent his (Biju’s) sister Rekha from marrying him by raising false allegations. He had even tried to ring up Subhash in disguise to hinder the relationship. Biju’s mother Rajammal was also present at the court.

The court  instructed  the police not to harass Biju as  it  had received complaints of harassment from Biju. Meanwhile, Kollam West CI Kamarudeen  allegedly manhandled Biju in front of the court when he tried to speak  to the media.

The special investigation team has given an application to the court for getting the copy of the forensic report of the laptop and pen-drive seized from Coimbatore from where Biju was arrested.

The court on Wednesday will take the statements from neighbours Mercy, Anoop, Ramachandran Nair, Harikrishnan Nampoothiri and his wife Sajitha.
