Hyderabad: After knowing the formation of Telangana state is certain, the Telangana Congress leaders have begun fighting for the Chief Minister’s post.
Several senior Telangana Congress leaders are vying for the Chief Minister’s post. Now the question is who will become the first Telangana Chief Minister.
Union minister Sarve Satyanarayana told the media on Tuesday that he is ready to take the Chief Minister’s post if AICC president Sonia Gandhi offers it to him. He demanded that the first Chief Minister of Telangana state should be a Dalit.
Satyanarayana said that the Congress high command should consider elevating a Dalit to the Chief Minister’s post after the formation of Telangana state.
When asked whether he was in the race for the post, Satyanarayana said he can’t deny the Chief Minister post if the Congress president offers it to him.
Rajya Sabha member V. Hanumantha Rao, also an aspirant for the Chief Minister’s post, told the media that the Congress high command will do justice in deciding the Chief Minister for Telangana state after its formation.
Meanwhile, there are several Congress leaders in Telangana, in the queue, for the Chief Minister Post.
Deputy Chief Minister, Damodar Raja Narasimha, panchayat raj minister K. Jana Reddy, information minister D.K. Aruna, housing minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, civil supplies minister D. Sridhar Babu, former PCC chief D. Srinivas and others are among a few in the queue.
There is a general feeling among the leaders that Union minister S. Jaipal Reddy may become the first Chief Minister of the Telangana state.
