Modi's counsel express satisfaction at appointment of Observer

Jaipur: Former IPL Commisioner Lalit Modi's counsel, Mehmood Abdi has expressed satisfaction over Supreme Court's decision to appoint retired Judge Hon'ble Justice N M Kasliwal as principal observer to conduct the upcoming elections of Rajasthan Cricket association (RCA).

Kasliwal to be assisted by Hon'ble Justice Pathak, retired Judge of the Rajasthan High Court to conduct the forth coming elections of the Rajasthan Cricket association (RCA)elections.

In a statement issued today, Abdi said the judicial intervention by the Supreme Court of India was the only possible way out of the maze of controversy that was at work in RCA.

"Two parallel elections were announced by the secretary Sanjay Dixit and the officiating secretary K K Sharma, scheduled for 23rd and 24th November here. "Hon'ble Mr. Justice Kasliwal is the most appropriate person to adjudicate the disputes in RCA as he was twice before appointed by the Supreme Court as Observer of the RCA elections," said Abdi, General Cousel, Constituted Attorney and spokesperson of Modi.

"He is fully aware of the complexities of the claims and their ramification on process of a free and fair election which he successfully conducted during the last two elections. "Not only that the Election Officer appointed by the officiating secretary K K Sharma was acting in arbitrary and partisan manner and was deciding the dispute with regard to the eligibility to vote by himself."

The Supreme Court today appointed its retired judge Justice N M Kasliwal as a principal observer to oversee the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) elections. In an interim order, a bench of justices A R Dave and Dipak Misra said Justice Kasliwal will be assisted by former Rajasthan High Court judge Justice S P Pathak and asked them to change the date of election if it is required. The scheduled date of election is November 24.
