Children go around naval ships
Schoolchildren and staff of various schools visited naval ships that were kept open to public.
Visakhapatnam: Schoolchildren and staff of various schools visited naval ships that were kept open to public, as part of the Navy Week celebrations, held over the last two days.
INS Jalashwa, a landing platform dock, INS Satpura, a stealth frigate and INS Kulish, a missile corvette received young visitors from different schools from in and around the city.
Enthusiastic students donning Eastern Fleet caps and waving the national, fleet and ships flags were taken around the ships and explained various facets of the navy.
The students showed keen interest in knowing the activities onboard. On display were video films on the Indian Navy, photographs displaying various aspects of operations and life onboard and several equipment used for diving, fire fighting, damage control and for personnel safety.
Other attractions for the children this year included counselling on career in the Indian Navy and a souvenir shoppe which sold sea caps and other memorabilia.
