Corporation library to be upgraded for IAS aspirants

Chennai: Youngsters aspiring for civil service exams can now visit the library located inside the historical Ripon buildings, even as the civic body will be starting a new curriculum to train those aiming to crack these competitive exams.
The Chennai corporation has received more than 1,300 applications for its proposed civil service exam courses and has drawn up plans to add more books to its library to make it a useful reference platform to those studying for civil services, an official said. Already orders have been given for new books which are expected to aid the aspirants to prepare for their examinations.
The civic body had recently invited applications from students preparing for competitive exams like TNPSC, UPSC, MBA, MCA, CSSE-I services and other technical posts and the response is encouraging, opined a corporation official. The library is already available for the corporation staff, but soon it will be opened for general public.
The coaching classes at initial stages will take place at Perambur corporation school and Saidapet corporation girls school. These two centres were inaugurated by Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Wednesday through video conference along with other schemes like planting of nochi, papaya and red sanders across the city to promote a green environment.
