Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today congratulated teenage batsman Prithvi Shah for scoring 546 runs in Harris Shield cricket tournament in Mumbai.

"I congratulate Prithvi for showing extraordinary talent in the junior level cricket," Chouhan told PTI in midst of campaigning for the November 25 assembly polls in the state.

On whether the school boy cricketer could be India's next run-machine like batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar, Chouhan said, "though it will be a little early to say so but he has immense potential."

14-year-old Prithvi created a national record yesterday, hitting an astonishing 546 playing for Rizvi Springfield against St Francis D'Assisi Borivali in an inter-school match.

The state U-16 captain hit 85 boundaries and five sixes in the match played at the Azad Maidan.

Prithvi eclipsed his senior schoolmate and former India opener Wasim Jaffer's nephew Arman's score of 498, which he scored a few years back.
