Thiruvananthapuram: The KPCC has decided to appoint a sub-committee to study the Madhav Gadgil and K. Kasturirangan committee reports.

Party vice-president M.M. Hassan will head the committee which will comprise Kannur, Wayanad and Idukki DCC presidents. They will study the issues being faced by the people in the high ranges.

Meanwhile, the KPCC meeting witnessed heated exchanges among Idukki and Wyanad DCC chiefs, Roy K. Poulose and K. L. Poulose respectively, and KPCC general secretary Sajeev Joseph.
KPCC chief Ramesh Chennithala alleged that the LDF’s protest against the Kasturirangan  report showed its political vendetta.

“The UDF has decided to hold awareness campaigns to enlighten the public about the  report. The CPM is  trying to fish in troubled waters. Not a single farmer will be dislocated from the  areas. The Congress will not cause any  difficulty to the people,”  Mr Chennithala told reporters after the KPCC meeting.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said   the Gadgil report had flaws and the  objections about the Kasturirangan report will be discussed and settled.

Leaders belonging to both factions shouted against each other after some complained against  Idukki MP P. T. Thomas’s comments against  Idukki  Bishop Mar Mathew Anikuzhikattil.
