Bangalore: The BJP has given seven suggestions to the city police to make ATMs safer. The measures include introduction of alarms at all ATMs and mandatory card swiping system to allow a customer in.
In a letter to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, party spokesman and MLA Suresh Kumar has suggested that these measures would give some confidence to ATM users. “After the attack on a bank manager at an ATM by an armed man, the entire city is frightened to use ATMs. When we see elderly people posted as security guards. The government should ensure that able-bodied men are posted as security guards.”
Party Suggests
All ATMs should have a compulsory card swiping system to prevent others from entering the kiosk.
ATMs should have transparent glass panes.
ATMs should have not more than one machine.
ATMs should be connected with alarms.
ATMs should not be set up in deserted areas (in non-resident or actively commercial areas).
CCTVs should function 24x7.
Securitymen should be posted 24x7 and it should be made compulsory for banks to post two or three guards on shifts.
