Kozhikode: Indian Union Muslim League mouthpiece Chandrika Daily has lambasted the police department in the state for its ineffective functioning. In an editorial  on Saturday,  the paper listed a series of incidents  to highlight the lapses of the  department.

“The failure of the police to arrest the culprits involved in the attack against the chief minister even one month after the incident casts doubts on the rule of law. It is shocking that the main culprits involved in the case were not arrested so far,” the editorial said.

It also criticised the police for the manner in which it handled the case connected with the attack on  a woman police warden in Kochi recently.

“The police are groping in the dark about the Panthirakkara sex racket case,”  it said. Power minister Aryadan Mohammed defended the home minister saying the “duty of the home department is not to arrest those pointed out by Chandrika Daily.”
