Hyderabad: YSR Congress president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday met President Pranab Mukherjee and Janata Dal (U) president Sharad Yadav in Delhi and appealed to them in keeping Andhra Pradesh united.
Reddy submitted a report to the President on the political developments in the state after the Centre announced bifurcation of AP. After meeting the President, Reddy said he brought to the notice of the President how the Centre is going ahead with the state bifurcation despite controversy surrounding Article 371(D).
The YSRC chief said he impressed upon the President the need to amend Article 3 as any part or alliance in the government at the Centre can resort to division of a state where it is not sure of a good showing. Speaking to the media, Sharad Yadav said that Reddy briefed him on the need for keeping Andhra Pradesh united. Sharad Yadav said his party did not support formation of Telangana state.
He questioned how a state could be divided without taking Assembly into confidence. The YSRC chief was accompanied by M.V. Mysoora Reddy, Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy, Pilli Subhas Chandra Bose, S.P.Y. Reddy and others.
