Kerala Chief Minister attack: Bomb hurled at SI house

Kozhikode: The residential quarters of Sanal Kumar, Sub-Inspector of the Kannur Town police station, came under bomb attack after midnight on Sunday. The attack took place at around 2.30 am, police sources said.
Sanal Kumar is one of the main officers in the team investigating the attack on Chief Minister Oommen Chandy at Kannur on October 27.
The bomb attack took place after the police had arrested K. Rejeesh, the DYFI Kannur district committee secretary, who also happens to be one of the prime suspects, on Saturday. Sanal Kumar and his family were not at home at the time of the attack.
A preliminary investigation found that a steel jar laden with explosives had been hurled at the house. The window panes of the house were shattered in the attack. Kannur district police chief Rahul R. Nair and other senior officials inspected the spot.
The police will also look into the possibility of any link between the bomb attack and the arrest of Rejeesh. Reports said a few men in a white car hurled the explosives and fled immediately.
Meanwhile, a team of LDF leaders including M. Prakashan and N. Chandran visited the spot and called for an impartial inquiry into the incident. “The attack needs to be condemned”, they said. CPM leader M.V. Jayarajan also visited the spot later in the day.
