Jaipal Reddy meets Sonia Gandhi, says Telangana Bill in Winter session
The Union Minister meets Sonia Gandhi, says 371(D) will not pose a hurdle for T.
Hyderabad: Union minister S. Jaipal Reddy met Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Monday, following which he informed that there are no hurdles before the Centre in introducing the Telangana Bill in the ensuing winter session.
“I cannot disclose details of my meeting with the Congress president, but as far as I understand, Telangana Bill will be introduced in the coming Parliament session,” Jaipal Reddy told the media at 10, Janpath.
He said 371(D) and the status of Hyderabad would not pose any legal problem in passing the T-Bill, and added that 371(D) can be amended and enforced in Telangana state.
“In order to impose some reasonable limitations to ensure that Hyderabad as a joint capital works, there is no necessity to bring any Constitutional amendment,” Jaipal Reddy said.
Jaipal Reddy’s meeting with Congress President Sonia Gandhi gains significance in view of the Centre preparing to introduce the T-Bill in the ensuing session to form Telangana state before the end of December.
Jaipal Reddy’s name is making the rounds in political circles as a possible Chief Minister of Telangana state.
