Tarun Tejpal sexual abuse case sparks political war between BJP and Congress
Sushma Swaraj tweets of a 'Union Cabinet Minister' shielding Tejpal; Sibal slams charge.
New Delhi: The Tehelka sexual assault case involving Tarun Tejpal on Wednesday became a war between the BJP and the Congress.
In the morning, leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj, a known Kapil Sibal baiter, said the Congress was shielding Tarun Tejpal. In a tweet, she said, “Union Cabinet Minister who is the founder and patron of Tehelka is shielding Tarun Tejpal.” She, however, did not name Sibal
By noon, Sibal slammed the RSS and BJP for spreading canards about him and his stakes in Tehelka. Reading out from a post doing the rounds in the social media, he said it alleges that he had 90 per cent stake in Tehelka and that Tarun Tejpal is the son on his sister. Rejecting both as false allegations, he said: “this is an RSS propaganda. I do not have any share in Tehelka." He wondered who protected the Reddy brothers in the infamous mining scam in Karnataka – an obvious reference to Sushma’s proximity with the Reddy brothers.
He also dared the leader of the opposition to name him openly if she had the courage. “The RSS is targeting me because I have been critical of Narendra Modi,” he added. “We are getting into an election year. Let us not get personal, but fight over issues,” he said.
