Minor raped by dad
Hyderabad: A tailor was arrested on Tuesday for raping his minor daughter for the past four years. The incident came to light when the victim approached an NGO and revealed what she was going through.
The 13-year-old victim studies in a local school and lives with her family in Risala Bazaar under the Bollarum police station limits.
According to the victim, her father had been raping her at their home since she was in Class IV, when she was barely 10 years old.
She said that her father would tell her that “it is a common thing which happens everywhere and every father is like this. It is important for you to learn such things.”
It was only about seven months ago that the girl realised what was happening with her and she recently went to a child welfare organisation. The organisation approached the Child Welfare Committee, Ranga Reddy, and the police was informed.
Based on the complaint, a case was registered and the father was arrested on Tuesday and sent to judicial custody.
“Yes, the incident occurred, but we cannot reveal any further details about the case because she is a school-going child. Any information may lead to identification of the victim and affect her,” said a police source

Nellore: A 15-year-old girl was molested by her stepfather at Podalakur on Friday night. The incident came to light when the girl decided to approach the police with the help of her neighbours on Wednesday. This, despite the victim's 45-year-old stepfather threatening to kill her.
According to reports, the actual father of the victim had died when she was just 2 years old and her mother had started living with the accused thereafter. The victim’s mother too passed away due to ill-health after three years.
The accused had then left the girl in the care of her relatives in Chennai. He got married to another woman and even had two kids of his own.
Last year, the accused picked up the victim from her relatives’ place assuring them that he would take good care of her. He then took her to his mother, who lives in Gudur. However, last month, the accused brought the victim to Podalakur and kept her in a rented house.
The girl was shocked when he attempted to molest her. When she resisted, the accused beat her up. But the young girl continued to reject his advances.
The girl later told the police that the accused had tied her hands and legs and had stuffed a piece of cloth into her mouth before molesting her on Friday night.
Police has registered a case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and has sent the girl for medical examination. Cops have also detained the accused.

Maid killed, body stuffed in almirah
Hyderabad: The body of a 33-year-old housemaid was found stuffed inside a cupboard in her employer’s house at Bhudevinagar in Alwal on Tuesday night.
though the victim was killed on Monday, the family came to know about it only on Tuesday night. The victim’s employer, Deepak C. Jain, who works at the State Bank of Hyderabad, claimed that an unknown couple, who had come to their house on Monday seeking one portion of their house for rent, must have killed the victim.
The victim, B. Ramulamma, a resident of Kanajiguda, was found dead with a major injury on her head inflicted by a blunt instrument.
The body was found inside a cupboard in a bedroom on the first floor on Tuesday night by the house owner’s son when he went to feed the dogs.
“The boy smelt something foul and he went and searched. He found the body inside the half-closed cupboard in the bedroom,” said Jain, who lodged a police complaint.
The police is still unclear about the motive of the murder and who was behind it. Officials quizzed Jain who claimed that he was in his office when the couple had visited the house.
“Many aspects of the case ARE still unclear including the motive and offenders,” said S.V. Harikrishna, Alwal inspector.
The victim had been missing from Monday and her relatives had approached Jain and the family who had said that they had not seen her since Monday afternoon.
Jain said, “On Monday morning after 10, a Hindi-speaking couple came to the house seeking the first floor on rent. Since my wife was not well, the housemaid, Ramulamma, showed them around. After a few hours, the couple left and the maid was also not seen in the house. We assumed that she had gone to her house after finishing her work.
But in the night, when her relatives asked us about her whereabouts, we realised that she was missing. Only on Tuesday night we came to know that she had been killed and her body was inside the house.”
A few questions, however, remain unanswered. Though the victim had been hit with a blunt weapon, Jain’s wife, who was in another portion of the house, had not heard any screams. The unknown couple who had visited the house had left without raising any suspicion.
The portion of the house kept for rent remained open, but nobody noticed the body till Tuesday night even though the dogs were fed in the same area. Harikrishna said that the cops had booked a murder case and had started investigating.

Hyderabad: Bike-borne thieves specialised in snatching cash from unsuspecting victims are active in the city and on its outskirts.
Police says that the inter-state gang of robbers follow victims carrying money and snatch it at vulnerable spots. Top cops say that the robbers prefer cash as there’s no problem of disposal associated with it. Very often thieves are caught by the police when they try to sell stolen property.
However when cash is stolen, it becomes difficult for the cops to trace the culprits. At least four such robberies have taken place in the city and its outskirts last week. On Monday Rs 14.5 lakh was snatched by robbers.
“We suspect an inter-state gang to be behind these snatchings. The modus operandi seems to be different from that of local criminals,” said West Zone DCP Satyanarayana.
The city police has now mounted a special operation and has deployed 300 officials, including 60 crime constables, to tackle the gang. Additional commissioner of police, crimes, Sandeep Shandilya, has called for a meeting with these police personnel and has chalked out plans to smash the gang.
A top police official explained the modus operandi of the gang. “The gang consists of two teams — informants and snatchers. The informants enter different banks in the city and observe customers who are withdrawing large amounts of cash.
They pretend as if they are filling forms etc. while observing the victim, his method of transport, how he is carrying the money, and which place he is heading towards.
Once the victim withdraws the money, the informants alert the snatchers and pass on the information. The snatchers then follow the victim on a bike and strike at a suitable spot,” he said.
The snatchers mostly use stolen motorcycles to escape the cops, as the police try to trace them using the registration number of their vehicles.
On Monday, two snatching incidents took place within three hours of each other in an 8 km radius; one at Sagar Society and the other at Masab Tank.
Both victims withdrew money from Axis Bank, but from different branches. The cops have confirmed that both acts were carried out by the same gang.
Police has now started analysing footages of CCTV cameras installed in the banks to find the informants. The investigation team is also thinking of taking the help of the Maharashtra and Karnataka police to trace the gang, he said.
