Flyovers under ‘SPEED Kerala’
Some of the long-drawn infrastructure projects in the state will soon be implemented.
Kochi: Some of the long-drawn infrastructure projects in the state will soon be implemented as the Public Works Department is planning to take up the projects under its programme, ‘SPEED Kerala’, (Sustainable and Planned Effort to Ensure Development of Infrastructure).
Initially, nine major projects worth Rs 1,627 crore will be carried out, including Edappally and Palarivattom flyovers and a four-lane IT corridor connecting NH-47 and Infopark, Kakkanad.
Minister for Public Works V.K. Ebrahim Kunju told reporters here that construction of Edappally flyover had already started which is the first project in ‘SPEED Kerala’. Administrative nod was given to Palarivattom flyover to be constructed at a cost of Rs 72 cr.
Repairing of the Thrissur – Kuttippuram Road, bypasses at Kollam, Alappuzha and Kozhikode, Ramapuram – Nalambalam Darshanam Road in Kottayam district and Kanjikuzhi – Vettathu Kavala – Karukachal Road are the other projects included in the first phase of ‘SPEED Kerala’.
