Steve Aoki will perform at the Sound Awake fest tomorrow night
Yelahanka will resound to the sounds of Steve Aoki as he takes centre stage at the Sound Awake edition II on Saturday night. World No 8 American Electro House DJ and producer Steve Aoki, known for his Italian Electro-House has performed over 250 shows every year and toured with the Deadmeat Tour headlining over 55 cities in 60 dates across the United States and Canada.
Talking about his line-up tonight, Steve who is known for his Eletro-House, Dub Step a pioneer of the new genre, Zappa House reveals, “I want the Indian audiences to experience what a Steve Aoki show is really like. I have asked the organisers to arrange a cake, the raft and the champagne for the show. I can never forget the reaction of people when I first introduced cake throwing in 2011 at a concert, as it has has been a part of my shows for years. I want to see just how crazy it will get this time.”
He founded his own label, Dim Mak Records, in 1996 and released over 250 records for electro house artists under his label. In March 2010 he released I'm In The House, that charted at #29 in the UK Singles Chart in its first week of release.
Recalling how he became a DJ, Steve says, “I was part of bands like This Machine Kills, Esperanza and The Fire Next Time, before I became a DJ. When I started my record label, Dim Mak, I started producing music and recording, during that process I got into DJing. I was in India last year and I loved how beautiful and incredible the country is. When you take a drive down the street, there’s just so much to see. I’m very excited to be back and to be playing at my first festival in the country - Sound Awake. As an artiste I try to reach out to as many people as possible, which I could not do the last time I was here. I’m looking forward to the food; I love Indian food, I want to eat it all day long, I especially love biryani.”
Known to have an adventure streak, Steve loves, “producing things. I also love exploring and experiencing,” he adds.
