Attend civic calls: Corporation brass to field staff

ChennaiThe Chennai Corporation which is often criticised for garbage stagnation and poor infrastructure in the city, took on Friday some public friendly initiatives, to improve its image and also the efficiency of its field staff. 
 
The top brass of the corporation instructed their field officials to attend every call that they receive on their official phone and advised their engineers to return mis­sed calls that may have not been attended due to meetings or field inspections. 
 
The corporation also directed officials to mill the road wherever req­uired to ensure that road levels are not raised while relaying roads.
 
Another interesting development relates to the corporation website wh­ere people can now comment on the maintenance of the website and suggest steps that can be taken to improve corporation services.

If you had not come to the website for this purpose, what would be your preferred way of contacting Chennai corporation? “It is a good move and corporation e-governance initiatives like free birth and death certificates through the online portal was an instant hit. People these days prefer online services as they save fuel and time,” felt civic act­ivist Arani Sree­nivasan.
