Local residents trouble Dembla, model friends

 

Bangalore: City designer Ramesh Dembla, who celebrated his birthday on Wednesday night with a group of friends,  was caught in a brawl on Thursday. 

 

After partying till the early hours, Ramesh took his close friends over to his house and on Thursday mor­ning, the group headed for a quick idli breakfast at Veena Stores in Malleswaram, a short drive from his house on Kumara Krupa Road. 

 

As the group, including models Priyanka, Partho, Madhuri Ittagi, Nissar, Param, Rajveer and Subin, stepped out of the car they were confronted by a local resident, Chandru, who questioned them on why the young women were in short dresses. 

 

Ramesh said, “I was having coffee and my friends had brought beer cans with them. The girls were in short dresses and there were two guys who confronted us and started touching the girls on the pretext of questioning them. They even went to the extent of calling them prostitutes. Just because a girl is wearing a short dress, you become a prostitute or what? Priyanka and Partho were shivering. Thankfully, there were policemen and some Good Samar­itans, who told us to ask the girls to sit in the car. These men were intent on molesting the girls.”
