The year started off on a auspicious note for Asif Ali. As the year comes to an end, Asif looks back on the year's events that gave a successful twist to his professional and personal life.

His latest film 'Bicycle Thieves' is doing well at the box-office. While 'Mosayile Kuthirameenukal' and 'Hi I am Tony' are waiting in the wings.

Taking time off his busy schedule, he chats about his career and life.

Asif happily declares that 2013 has been an interesting year for him. “Good things have happened. On the professional front, 'Kili Poyi' and 'Honeybee …' have done well and on the personal front, I got married to Zama, so I am relatively tension free,” he says.

In his latest release 'Bicycle Thieves', Asif has hummed a few lines of the evergreen hit "Aayiram Kannumaayi…" and indulged in some cycle stunts.

Laughing he explains, “During the shooting, I was humming the song and Deepak Dev decided to include it in the film to give it a natural feel. Moreover, this is a classic evergreen song which I have sung umpteen times, so it was not difficult.” Talking about the bicycle stunts, he reveals, “The three of us, Saiju and Bineesh included, were just fooling around on the cycle and it was only later that we realised that those candid shots were included in the film,” Asif admits that he is a bicycle enthusiast.

Asif admits to feeling tense before every release.

“I am a very emotional person! I enjoy and celebrate like crazy when my film does well at the box-office but if it doesn’t fare well I tend to become moody and feel bad! When any film of mine releases, I make sure that I watch it on the first day with my friends.”

About his cinematic journey Asif says that every film has helped him grow and become a serious actor.

“I come from a non-filmy background and knew nothing about films. So, each film has been a learning experience and I have been improving with each film. All I know is that films is where I want to be, so I am giving it my best shot."

Asif is also happy that scripts are being written keeping him in mind. In the initial years Asif was only acting his part, but now he takes an avid interest in everything related to cinema including the post production work.

On the personal front, marriage to Zama has made him more responsible.

“Marriage has not changed me; I am still childlike, but the responsibility has increased manifold! Before marriage, my income was never planned and was largely spent on travels and on my friends. Now there is a thought about the future and I have started saving."

Travelling is one of Asif 's weaknesses.

He admits that although he has not been to a lot many places, he likes the idea of taking off alone, with friends and now with his wife. Travelling helps him find answers to some emotional problems, he quips.
