Tiruvannamalai: A driver of a private college bus, who was in the throes of a heart attack, saved the lives of several students by parking the vehicle near a platform before dying on Saturday afternoon.

According to Arani taluk sub-inspector Kasi, driver Parasuraman, 52, son of Manikandan and a resident of Kustampadi village, Polur taluk, had been working for ACS engineering college, Arani.
After the examination for engineering students was over in the afternoon, he took 18 students in the bus to drop them home. When the bus was nearing Arani Irumbedu, Parasuraman felt uncomfortable and suspected that he must be suffering a heart attack for the fourth time.

He parked the vehicle near a platform where a transformer was located. Raja Babu, an engineering student of the college, who felt something was amiss with the driver, offered him a little water.

Parasuraman drank only a few drops, fell from his seat and died.
