There were always doubts about whether or not 'Bullett Raja' would take an impressive opening. Rejection of many masala movies in the last few weeks and the absence of chartbuster songs in the film were always expected to be a hindrance for the Saif Ali Khan-starrer. Still, a start of minimum 40 to 50 per cent was expected.

However, footfalls on the opening day was only half of that. The reviews have ranged from average to good; so word-of-mouth hasn’t help much either. The first day collections were just around Rs 7 crore, which is one of the lowest figures for a big film this year.

With no real jump on Saturday and Sunday, the weekend collections settled around the Rs 23-crore* mark, proving to be below average grosser. The weekdays aren’t expected to turn the tide with only four days left to rake in moolah. With Shahid Kapoor’s 'R... Rajkumar' arriving next, 'Bullett Raja' hasn’t quite turned out to be a speedy bullet that could rule like a raja.
