Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government plans to set up an animation and gaming city in Hyderabad to promote the industry.

According to the Andhra Pradesh Gaming, Animation, Media and Entertainment Policy 2014-19, the complex would have an incubation centre called Game Towers, where state of the art "walk-to-work" and "plug and play" built up office space would be provided at subsidised rates.

The space would be offered to first generation technocrat entrepreneurs, small and medium enterprises engaged in gaming, animation as well as media and entertainment activities.

Similar gaming cities would be set up in Tier-II cities like Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Kakinada, Tirupati, and Warangal, the policy said.

"In association with stakeholders, the Andhra Pradesh government shall set up a world-class and gaming, animation, media and entertainment academy, which would be the first of its kind in the country to impart requisite communication skills, artistic skills and domain knowledge to students," it said.

A venture capital funding mechanism would also be created to extend appropriate seed capital assistance to first generation entrepreneurs, start ups as well as small and medium enterprises engaged in the animation, gaming, visual effects and digital entertainment sectors, it said.
