Boy injured in stone-pelting on moving train
A 10-year-old boy suffered serious head injury when unidentified persons pelted stones.
Kochi: A 10-year-old boy suffered serious head injury when unidentified persons pelted stones at an express train at Vaduthala between Ernakulam North and Edapally railway stations on Monday.
Adnan Razi, son of Mustafa Razi, a resident of ‘Suraz’ House, Thana PO, Kannur, was travelling in the Ernakulam-Madgaon Express along with his parents when the incident happened at 1.55 p.m.
“He was sitting near the window seat. The family was going from Ernakulam to Kannur. As the train reached the Perandur canal near Vaduthala, some miscreants pelted stones at the train. The boy was hit on his head,” police said.
As blood began to ooze from his wound, the family alighted at Aluva, the next stop, and rushed him to the Aluva Government Hospital. He was later referred to the KIMS Hospital where he was subjected to a surgery.
“The class- V student of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan suffered injuries to his skull. His condition is fine as of now and will be under observation for the next 24 hours,” hospital authorities said.
Meanwhile, stone-pelting was also reported by the passengers of the Nizamuddhin-Ernakulam Duronto Express at the same time. “The glass window of an AC coach was broken in the incident. A team of RPF was sent to the spot though no one has been arrested yet. Further probe is on,” sources said.
