Man-eater of Bandipur claims its third victim

Bandipur/Bangalore: Angry villagers torched a jeep belonging to the the Special Tiger Protection Force (STPF) and stoned a forest guesthouse after the killer tiger in Bandipur Tiger Reserve claimed its third victim in a week, killing a farmer in Chikbargi village on the fringes of the forest on Tuesday.
This time, unlike the two other previous incidents where the big cat left the corpses untouched after the kill, the tiger turned man-eater, ate the flesh from the farmer's body, The badly mauled body of 70 year old Basappa, who had gone into the forest to graze his cattle was found on Tuesday evening, when the cattle returned without their herder and concerned villagers went in search of him.
The latest incident occurred 2.5 km from the site of the previous kill.
