Hyderabad: Irked at being denied an appointment to meet Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu declared on Tuesday that he will never meet the Prime Minister in future.

Addressing a media conference in Delhi on Tuesday, Naidu said this was not the first time he has been denied an appointment by the Prime Minister. “I am not seeking any personal favour by meeting him.

It is his responsibility to meet leaders from various states. Even on earlier occasions he has denied me an appointment. Now I have decided not to meet this Prime Minister in future,”?said the aggrieved Naidu.

The TD chief was in Delhi to present his case on the injustice done to Andhra Pradesh on account of the Krishna water dispute tribunal’s recent award. He was able to meet other senior leaders, but not the Prime Minister.

Naidu took the opportunity to fault the Prime Minister for not attending the CHOGM meeting in Colombo under pressure from Tamil Nadu MPs, and not having the time to visit cyclone-ravaged Andhra Pradesh even once in recent times.

Protesting what they saw as a slight to their leader, Telugu Desam MPs Devender Goud, C.M. Ramesh, Gundu Sudharani, Sujana Chowdary, Nama Nageswara Rao, K. Narayana Rao and Nimmala Kishtappa went to the extent of staging a sit-in outside the Prime Minister’s house. They were taken into preventive custody by the Delhi police.
