Students flock to annual science fair
Students from various engineering colleges, schools and a few others present their exhibits.
Vijayawada: A buzz was witnessed at the Gora Science Centre here on Wednesday, with students of various schools and colleges of the city taking part in the first day of the three-day science exhibition.
Inaugurating the exhibition, VR Siddartha Engineering College principal G. Samabasiva Rao said that it was remarkable that the science centre has been organising the exhibition every year since the past 53 years in the city.
Rao said such exhibitions would help students brush up their knowledge on science and technology and lead them to innovative thinking.
Former IMA president G. Samaram said that while western countries were spearheading technology casting aside superstitions, India was facing hurdles in form of illiteracy, lack of finance and superstitions.
Students from various engineering colleges, Siddartha Medical College, schools and members of RTA and few other NGOs presented their exhibits.
Projects like generating electricity using wood, fuel production from plastic, solar power generation, bike that runs only when the rider uses a helmet and others related to science from school to college level, electronics, robotics and other streams attracted the visitors.
The exhibition would be open for visitors on Thursday and Friday.
