IMG TSD rally on Sunday
The IMG Rally will be organised by Karnataka Motor Sports Club under the banner of Federation of Motor Sports Club in India.
Bangalore: Keeping in mind the ever increasing number of driving enthusiasts in the country, The IMG Rally, which is the fourth round of the Indian National TSD Rally championship, will be organised by Karnataka Motor Sports Club under the banner of Federation of Motor Sports Club in India, on Sunday .
The rally will begin and end at The Club on Mysore Road and will cover approximately 200kms split into two stages. The routes will be disclosed when the race starts but will have both dirt roads and normal ones along the way.
With emphasis more on the navigator than on the driver, Sujith a four-time national champion and seasoned navigator, believes it this is the best for newcomers.
“TSD rally is the safest form of rallying. With a maximum speed of 45kmph it is a lot more work for the navigator. The race is basically for newcomers and you can rally today and go to office tomorrow,” he said.
The format concentrates more on the drivers’ ability to maintain given speed and reach check points in time rather than absolute speed and control with penalties for deviation in time.
While any make or model is allowed in the championship, it has two categories in the four-wheeler division, the ‘Pro Stock’ and the ‘Pro Expert’, with
only the latter being allowed to use the rally meters for the race.
The organisers are expecting about 45 cars in the four-wheeler section and about 10-12 in two-wheeler category.
On the sidelines of the race, Naveen Kanth Memorial Green Run will also be conducted in memory of Naveen, who passed away recently and will emphasize on the importance of driving with seat belts and other safety habits.
