Notice to govt on Jail chief
The Thrissur vigilance court on Friday issued notice to the state government on a petition.
Thrissur: The Thrissur vigilance court on Friday issued notice to the state government on a petition seeking a probe into DGP (Prisons) Alexander Jacob’s controversial comments regarding the Facebook posts by the accused in the T.P. Chandrasekharan murder case.
Vigilance judge K. Haripal asked the government to file an affidavit on its stand on the issue. The court posted the case to December 10 for further hearing.
As per the petition filed by P.D. Joseph, a social activist, there was prima facie evidence to prove that Faiz, the key accused in a gold smuggling case, had gifted smart phones to the murder accused with the connivance of jail authorities.
Further, the jail DGP’s remark that the row over violations of prison rules appeared to have been made to influence the judge hearing the case pointed to conspiracies.
The DGP on Thursday had expressed doubts over the authenticity of the pictures posted on the Facebook, saying that before reaching a final conclusion the pictures had to be scientifically examined.
