Thiruvananthapuram: The state government has withdrawn the order issued on December 5 restraining officials from causing difficulties for the public in the name of the Kasturirangan report. “We have decided to withdraw the order as certain issues of clarity have cropped up,” Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said in a statement here on Saturday.
He said that a new order would be issued after the receiving the report of the expert committee set up to study the Kasturirangan report. The December 5 order was issued in the wake of complaints that government officials were refusing to accept taxes and register land deeds citing Kasturirangan report. The order states that the Kasturirangan report does not place any hurdles on the acceptance of taxes, registration of land deeds, distribution of title deeds and the grant of firewood permit. “The officials should ensure that such actions are carried out in future without any hitch,” the order had stated.
The order also prohibits officials from taking any action on the basis of the Kasturirangan report without the permission of the State Government.
A copy of the order was already sent to all government departments. Departments were also asked to upload the order in their websites. “Officials who refuse to comply will be strictly dealt with,” the order had stated.
