KozhikodeThe Indian Union Muslim League continued to take potshots at the Congress leadership in the state with  party national secretary E.T. Mohammad Basheer saying that the United Democratic Front  has been proving to be a  ‘failure.’  He told reporters here  on Saturday  that except for the ‘routine meetings,’ nothing concrete was being done by the UDF to resolve the issues confronting the ruling front.

“If the current trend continues, it will have serious impact on the forthcoming Parliament elections,”  he said.  He  clarified that he had not made any remarks about  Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi.  He was only emphasising the need for the Congress to take  a pro-active stance to unite the secular forces for the Parliament elections, he said.

IUML leader and industries minister P.K. Kunhalikutty said that the functioning of the home department needed to be discussed by the UDF in the background of the Facebook and mobile phones controversy involving the accused in the TPC case.

Earlier, IUML ministers in the state cabinet and leaders held a meeting at the residence of IUML state president Panakkad Hyderali Shihab Thangal at Panakkad.
