Eagles FC will participate in Federation Cup

Kochi: Football in Kerala received a shot in the arm when Kochi based Eagles FC was approved to take part in the prestigious Federation Cup, scheduled between January 14 and 26.
The Kerala Football Association announced on Saturday that Eagles will replace Langsing FC for the annual event.

“Being the host state, the All India Football Federation has approved KFA's request to include a team from Kerala. As Eagles fulfilled the club licensing criteria, it has been selected to participate as the only team from Kerala,“ said KFA presi dent K.M.I. Mather.

The Jawaharlal Nehru stadium in Kochi is confirmed as the main venue while a second venue is to be decided between Manjeri, Kozhikode or Thiruvananthapuram by AIFF before December 25.

“Eagles FC is delighted to rep resent the state in the Federation Cup. We hope our inclusion will serve as a new beginning for the revival of Kerala football,“ said Thomas George Muthoot, director of the club.
