Big B makes Arshad wary
Arshad’s 'Mr Joe B. Carvalho' gets into an unexpected clash with the 3D version of 'Sholay'
In the year 1996, Amitabh Bachchan had ventured into production with ABCL and launched a new star, Arshad Warsi, with 'Tere Mere Sapne'. Circa 2014 and the two seem to be heading for an unexpected clash, with Arshad’s 'Mr Joe B. Carvalho' taking on the 3D version of 'Sholay'.
“Arshad hadn’t seen it coming when the release date of the film, which is produced by his long standing secretary Bhola, was decided,” says a close associate of the actor, “When he picked 3 January, it was an open slot available.”
Speaking of the coincidence, Arshad laughs and says, “I had never imagined that one day I would be competing with 'Sholay'. This is just not done.” However, it is happening and that means 18 years after being given a break by Big B, he will be challenging his mentor at the box office. But Arshad seems to be having second thoughts now. He says, “I cannot fight Amitji, can I? I got into the film business because of him. 'Tere Mere Sapne' was his first production. Now this year my first undisputed, solo box office hit ('Jolly LLB') was actually launched by him. How can I even see any competition here?”
Let’s leave it at that for now.
