Pull out the woollens, Bangalore will plunge to 15 degrees Celsius
Cold wave conditions in many parts of Karnataka.
Bangalore: There is a sudden chill in the air as the city has seen a 3 degrees Celsius dip in temperature in the last one week. The temperatures are expected to go down further, say the meteorologists.
The minimum temperature in the city is falling as some parts of the state have come under ‘cold wave conditions’ with some areas recording minimum temperatures as low as 10 degrees Celisus. The Bijapur Met station recorded 8.5 degrees Celsius, while the Belgaum airport recorded 9.2 degrees Celsius on Monday morning.
In Bangalore on Monday, the minimum temperature was around 16 degrees Celsius. Weather department officials said that the mercury will fall soon in the city.
“Normally, the minimum temperature in the city goes below 15 degrees Celsius during winter. In recent years, the city experienced the lowest temperature of 11.8 degrees Celsius in 2007,” the Met department officials said.
At present, the conditions are favourable for temperatures to go down. The night is longer than the day and the city is experiencing clear skies.
The wind too is blowing from northerly and north-easterly direction which has no moisture in it, increasing the chillness in the air,” said Mr B. Puttanna, director of IMD, Bangalore.
