KPCC to finalise on finance needs

The government will hold an all-party meeting on Tuesday.

Thiruvananthapuram: The government will hold  an all-party meeting on Tuesday  to firm up recommendations to be submitted before the 14th Finance Commission which is visiting the state on December 18 and 19. KPCC leaders were huddled in a meeting on Monday to share their views on the  factors to be included in the final draft.

KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala, KPCC general secretaries Thampanoor Ravi and Dr. Sooranad Rajasekharan held consultations with leading finance experts of the state. Mr Chennithala told DC that his two general secretaries will be representing the all-party meet being held on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Planning Board member G. Vijayaraghavan, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Development Studies (RGIDS) professor Dr. B. A. Prakash, retired income tax commissioner Vijayakumar and Gulati Institute of Finance and Taxation senior faculty and chairman Jose Jacob were the economists who held meeting with KPCC leaders.

According to Rajasekharan, the KPCC’s recommendations to the Finance Commission will have  far-reaching impact on improving  the financial situation of the state.
