Gold smuggling: Shravya Sudhakar claims Mythili link to Faiz
Shravya Sudhakar, a model and winner of a South Indian beauty pageant, told the CBI officials.
Kochi: Shravya Sudhakar, a model and winner of a South Indian beauty pageant, told the CBI officials that cine actress Mythili had introduced her to T.K. Faiz, the key accused in the Nedumbassery gold smuggling case.
According to officials, Shravya confessed to knowing Faiz for the last seven months and also admitted to making foreign trips together for at least five times. It was Faiz who introduced her to some customs officers at the Cochin airport, who included Deputy Commissioner Madhavan and Assistant commissioner Sunil Kumar.
She, however, denied having any links with the gold smuggling racket run by Faiz, saying that the fact was not known to her till his arrest. Meanwhile, officials said that they were yet to take any decision with regard to arraigning Shravya as an accused in the case.
“We have also noted the statements by Shravya that Malayalam actor Mythili was a common friend of her and Faiz. But this claim is yet to be verified,’’ they said while denying reports of summoning Mythili for interrogation.
Later, Shravya told mediapersons that she had met many of Faiz’s friends at different locations but had no idea about their official status. Further, she explained that she had been accompanied by her family all the time she travelled abroad and also spoke of one Muthu Chippi, a Chennai-based model, who was common friend of both Faiz and Mythili.
Earlier, the officials had received evidence establishing the links between Faiz and the model, which forced the authorities to interrogate her.
