Vadodara: A keen contest in on the cards at the upcoming elections of the Baroda Cricket Association (BCA), to be held on December 15.

The election of office-bearers and various committees will see a new group in the fray. For over a decade, a panel headed by BCA President Chirayu Amin had been ruling the BCA.

However, this time BCA Secretary Sanjay Patel and Samarjeetsinh Gaekwad, Vice-President of the association, have formed their own group and introduced candidates for all the posts to contest against Amin's candidates.

Former Test players Anshuman Gaekwad, Kiran More and Nayan Mongia are supporting Amin and contesting for various posts. Two days ahead of the election, Amin fired a salvo at Patel, who is also BCCI Secretary.

Talking to reporters here, the BCA President accused Patel of creating hurdles in way of acquiring land for setting up the association's own cricket stadium in Vadodara. Amin promised to work towards setting up a world-class stadium in Vadodara and also improve infrastructure in the city, which has given several Test cricketers to the Indian team.

"As part of development of cricket infrastructure, we will work towards having BCA's own stadium and acquire land for additional cricket grounds in the city. Our mission is to be the finest cricket association in the country devoted to the betterment of the game," Amin, a former IPL Commissioner, said.
